Marvel teases new actor taking over as iconic MCU hero

A new Falcon has emerged

It’s set to be an exciting couple of weeks for Marvel fans.

On 26 July, the highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine will launch, slated as the film that could ‘save’ the MCU.

If ever there was a chance to kill off this dull multiversal storyline and kickstart something new, it’s now.

Alongside this, it’s been announced that Marvel will return to Hall H at San Diego Comic Con later this month, plus we’ve also had first trailers for Agatha All Along and Captain America: Brave New World.

Agatha All Along looks to build upon Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ small foray into horror, delivering us an all-out spooky treat.

Brave New World, on the other hand, will see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson assume the role of Captain America in a feature film for the first time.

The film is set to introduce us to Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, as well as reacquainting us with someone who’ll be filling some familiar shoes.

ICYMI: Check out the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below.

If Sam is now Captain America, it begs the question: What happens to Falcon?

Well, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres will seemingly be assuming the mantle, after first being introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

This is, as yet, unconfirmed, but we do see Sam flying alongside another winged hero in the final moments of the trailer.

It’s not totally clear that it’s Joaquin Torres but a synopsis appears to have confirmed our suspicions.

As pointed out by Comic Book, a synopsis for the film reads, “The trailer also features a few familiar faces: Danny Ramirez returns as former Air Force lieutenant Joaquin Torres, who's picked up Sam's old wings and taken on the role of Falcon.”

Unfortunately, fan-favourite Bucky Barnes, portrayed by Sebastian Stan, isn’t set to return until Marvel’s Thunderbolts so we won’t get to see the Sam and Bucky bromance in action.

Of course, I wouldn’t put it past Marvel to be hiding a secret reunion but as far as we know, Stan isn’t listed as a part of the film’s cast.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to release on 14 February 2025.
