Hugh Jackman is Wolverine. That's been the case for the better part of the last three decades and, if the success of Deadpool & Wolverine is anything to go by, will remain so for the foreseeable.

Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate, but one thing comic book fans will never be able to accept is that Hugh Jackman is too damn tall to play Wolverine.

In the comics Wolverine is about 5'3”, making Hugh Jackman an entire foot higher. While I'd hardly suggest height is the most important part of Logan's character, it'd be nice if the next Wolverine were on the shorter end of the spectrum.

Certainly, Deadpool & Wolverine played with this idea by giving us a scene in with Deadpool meets a Logan variant that's about the size we'd expect from the comics. But while this Logan might have Hugh Jackman's face in the movie thanks to some digital trickery, this short king Wolverine was played by another actor entirely.

A behind-the-scenes photo of Deadpool & Wolverine shows actor Luke Bennet stepped in to play this variant in the latest MCU adventure, and as you can see from the picture, the guy looks the part without Hugh Jackman's face plastered onto his.

"The actor who played short Wolverine lowkey looks better here than he does in the actual movie," one Twitter user enthused. "I genuinely love the hair & mutton chops here holy shit."

"He actually could be MCU Wolverine honestly," A Reddit user added. "He’s a bit of a Hugh look-alike so I don’t know if they’d go with that just to distance themselves… but he could."

If for whatever reason Hugh Jackman decides he'd probably rather not do the Wolverine thing until he's 90, maybe Marvel could give Luke Bennet a call.
