Thanks to The Multiverse Saga, being able to follow the Marvel series of shows and movies is harder than ever with characters returning from death or even doubling up.

That is definitely the case for Spider-Man which welcomed back two previous iterations of the web-slinger to join Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Check out our interview with Tom Holland himself for Spider-Man: No Way Home!

As a result, Marvel writers currently have three Spider-Men to play around with with Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and the OG Tobey Maguire returning as their versions of the much-loved superhero.

However, ‘three is a crowd’ as the saying goes, which has led some Marvel fans to believe that its writers may just kill off at least one of them in a future release.

The discussion kicked off earlier this week over on r/MCUTheories when one user posted: “What do you guys think happens to Tobey and Andrew's universes? Fox’s X-Men universe will be gone or is already gone in Deadpool 3 I think. Sony's SSU gone too. That leaves the other two Spider-Men."

They continued, "I think Tobey's universe is safe because he is Sony's biggest cash cow apart from Tom Holland and a very very big part of No Way Home's success was [Sam] Raimi’s characters. [..] Andrew's universe is gonna get nuked imo. So it can be that after [Avengers] Secret Wars, Andrew is in MCU and becomes Ben Reilly, which was a theory some time ago.”

There is a lot to unpack here but the gist is that this Marvel fan believes that Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man won’t last too much longer in the current timeline.

However, other fans believe that characters such as this are just waiting in the wings and can appear in future releases.

“Their universes will be gone but some beloved characters from around the multiverse may be refugees in the MCU going forward (in the same way that characters like Miles Morales, The Maker, and 1872 Red Wolf were in the comics),” one comment read.

It remains to be seen what will happen to this influx of new and old characters in upcoming Marvel releases.

However, if Garfield was to get the chop, it would be a sad day for fans indeed.
