Marvel's Doctor Strange replacement is the last person you'd expect

This Sorcerer Supreme appears to be far more foe than friend

When you think of Marvel, your mind may drift to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and I couldn’t blame you for that.

It has well and truly permeated popular culture but, of course, Marvel Comics is where it all began.

There, you’ll find a wealth of stories to lose yourself within.

If you’re on the lookout for an engaging story, I’d have to recommend Ultimate Black Panther with the series’ latest issue featuring quite the surprise reveal.

In Ultimate Black Panther #9, the Sorcerer Supreme of this specific universe has been revealed, and it’s not Doctor Strange.

ICYMI: The first trailer for Thunderbolts* has arrived. Take a look below.

If you’re not up to date with Ultimate Black Panther #9, as reported by ComicBook, the story has been following Killmonger and Storm as they seek out the unknown Sorcerer Supreme.

This journey takes them to a stronghold in Eastern Europe where they believe the mystery individual is being held.

The fact that the stronghold is home to a torture doctor doesn’t exactly bode well, either.

Killmonger and Storm were right to be worried, but not because the Sorcerer was particularly in peril.

It turns out they may be far more foe than friend.

When the duo does finally come face-to-face with the Sorcerer Supreme, the out-of-panel individual cackles while asking if Killmonger and Storm are friends.

Eventually, the Sorcerer Supreme steps out of the shadows, with a man in tow being used as a puppet by the individual.

Fair to say, it doesn’t exactly look like the fella has been having the greatest of times.

Standing behind the guy is a woman, donning a short, cropped black hairstyle.

A muzzle is placed over her mouth explaining the need for the male human puppet, whilst also indicating that her captors don’t exactly want her using her voice.

While this clearly isn’t Steven Strange, it does appear to be his wife, Clea.

The character is often seen sporting a blonde hair-do, but Marvel Comics have always liked to play around with appearance.

We know she hails from the Dark Dimension, and is even the niece of Dormammu, which would explain the slightly villainous introduction.

Beyond this though, we really don’t have any answers at the current moment.

If Ultimate Black Panther #9 has left you craving more, you’ll have to await the release of Issue #10 on 27 November.
