Marvel accidentally confirms recast MCU hero earlier than planned

The cat's out of the bag

Agatha All Along may have only just started airing, but it’s not a crime to look ahead to what’s next from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That’ll be Captain America: Brave New World which will see Anthony Mackie fully assuming his new role following the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

This time, it won’t be Bucky by Sam’s side. In fact, Bucky isn’t slated to appear in the film at all which is a fact that sends a pang of sadness through me.

Captain America: Brave New World will introduce Harrison Hord as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker, with Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Danny Ramirez returning as Joaquin Torres.

This time around, Torres is supposedly set to play a much larger role - something Marvel may have just accidentally confirmed early.

You see, Marvel Comics fans will know that Torres assumes the mantle of the Falcon after Sam Wilson steps away to be the new Captain America.

That’s not something that’s been publicly confirmed by Marvel when it comes to the MCU with trailers careful not to show Torres is full winged action.

And yet, the cat is now out of the bag.

Take a look at Captain America: Brave New World in action below.

How? The film’s Funko Pop! Vinyl figures have leaked online.

The leaked images were posted by Instagram user mchd_13, revealing figures of Sam Wilson as Captain America, Thaddeus Ross both in presidential mode and as Red Hulk, as well as Joaquin Torres as … Yes, Falcon.

It’s hardly as if we didn’t see this one coming, so Marvel shouldn’t be too disappointed by this tiny slip.

It’ll be interesting to see how much Ramirez is able to address the rumour during the film’s press tour.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to launch on 14 February 2025.b
