Last year’s summer box office was dominated by the now-legendary Barbie and Oppenheimer rivalry.

This year, however, cinemagoers were entranced by a partnership more so than a rivalry.

We all had a feeling that Deadpool & Wolverine would be pretty special, but I don’t think anyone predicted the film to be quite this successful.

It had the highest R-rated opening of all-time, the biggest global opening since Avatar: The Way of Water, the highest July opening weekend of all-time domestically, and it’s now the 12th highest-grossing movie at the domestic US box office - and that’s just to name a few feats.

Fair to say, Marvel fans are hoping to see Wade and Logan unite once more.

What if I told you that is happening? The only caveat is that you’ll have to hop over into the wonderful and plentiful world of Marvel Comics.

The MCU will soon bring us season three of the acclaimed What If…?.

A brand new series is on the horizon, titled Weapon X-Men, from writer Joe Casey and with art by ChrisCross.

Essentially, the series will introduce a new X-Men line-up that includes both Deadpool and Wolverine, as well as Cable, Chamber, and Thunderbird.

As reported by ComicBook, Weapon X-Men is yet another tie-in to Marvel Comics’ wider ‘One World One Doom’ project.

Across various series and properties, Marvel Comics is exploring a universe in which Victor Von Doom assumes the role of Sorcerer Supreme.

It’s a great way to drum up hype for the character ahead of Avengers: Doomsday in the MCU.

Unfortunately for the X-Men, they appear to be one of the first groups to have to face off against this iteration of Doom.

He’s not the only threat, but Marvel is yet to reveal Weapon X-Men’s second major foe.

“When a high-stakes mutant rescue mission from the ultimate global hot spot exposes the true enemy – possibly from within – an all-new team of all-action icons suddenly find themselves forged in fire,” the series’ synopsis reads.

“And the official membership policy is…no mercy allowed! Accept no substitutes – this is the one you didn’t even know you were waiting for! This is the real thing!”

There’s not too long to wait either, as Weapon X-Men #1 launches on 19 February 2025.
