Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige has been talking to reporters about the future of the MCU and has admitted that certain heroes and film ideas have been put on the back burner for now.
Speaking on the future of Deadpool, and the sequel to the successful, Deadpool & Wolverine, Feige admits they aren’t rushing to make a fourth film.
This makes sense, as Marvel are pushing into launching the MCU X-Men and will still have to wrap up the events of Avengers: DOOMSDAY and Avengers: Secret Wars, the latter of which will bring a “reset” to the MCU.
On hearing this news about Deadpool, fans are split, with some happy to see the character take a break, and others eager for more.

“Let ‘em cook,” said one user on Twitter.
This is echoed across several Tweets from others, including this one saying, “As much as I loved Deadpool & Wolverine, we don't really need at fourth film. I'd definitely love it, but it doesn't need to happen right now.”
There are, of course, plenty of sad face emojis, gifs expressing confusion or anger, and messages like this one, “As if they're overflowing with great stories and great writers.”
On the whole, while reaction is mixed, most seem to think the break will do the character some good, and it doesn’t mean we won’t see Deadpool soon.

“It’s because him and Wolverine are both in Doomsday and Secret Wars,” thinks this Twitter user.
And they’re probably not wrong, seeing as Avengers: Secret Wars will likely close the door on the multiverse, and Deadpool will hope to set up a life on Earth-616.
One fan brings up a good point, saying, “Not surprising Ryan Reynolds is gonna be 50,” but he could hand off the role to another hero in the Avengers films, and perhaps pivot to one of the many other Deadpools we’ve seen in the comics.
