Avengers: Doomsday plot leak has MCU fans picking their sides

There is still a long way to go until fans finally get to see the next Avengers instalment but it seems as though Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be as iconic as its predecessors.

With filming for Avengers: Doomsday beginning back in April, all eyes are on Marvel Studios as it works to bring together one of the most anticipated movies of the past decade.

As part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Doomsday will be the first Avengers entry since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and will feature both returning and brand-new superheroes.

The movie was originally expected to be released on 1 May 2026 but was recently delayed until 18 December 2026 with its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars following on 17 December 2027.

Not much is known about Avengers: Doomsday other than that it will see our brand-new team of superheroes team up to defeat Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

However, a recent plot leak hints at a big decision for fans.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Danny Ramirez has teased that an Avengers vs New Avengers conflict will be explored in Avengers: Doomsday.

Ramirez, who is best known for playing Joaquín Torres/Falcon is fairly new to the MCU but his recent comment has already got fans picking which side that they will be on.

The New Avengers will consist of our Thunderbolts* team: Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Ghost, John Walker, Red Guardian and of course, Bob, with our Avengers star Sam Wilson leading a group with Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Captain Marvel, Hulk, Wong, Shang-Chi, and She-Hulk.

Much like what was seen in Captain America: Civil War, it seems as though fans will be picking their sides and they recently took to r/Marvel to share their thoughts on the news.

“I’m Team Bucky and New Avengers all the way,” one user posted.

Another user agreed, adding, “I’m rooting for Sentry …I mean…the New Avengers. So basically Sentry.”

However, another user thought differently.

“Sam’s team will be more like the OG Avengers. Diverse and not just a bunch of super soldiers and assassins together,” they shared.

“I’m sticking with Sam.”

Avengers: Doomsday will hit cinemas on 18 December 2026.
