House of the Dragon fans think key character is the Night King

With House of the Dragon season two currently airing and featuring some of the best moments seen on TV this year, fans are already speculating on the future of the Game of Thrones prequel.

Set around 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is the latest hit television show based on the novel Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin.

Telling the story of a period of Targaryen history known as the Dance of the Dragons, the show follows a civil war between the dragon-rider family with the families going head-to-head to sit their own on the Iron Throne.

With season two of House of the Dragon currently airing and being met with positive reviews, fans are already spending time speculating as to any possible connections between the events of this show and Game of Thrones.

More specifically, that speculation is focusing on a possible House of the Dragon character actually going on to become the Night King during the events of Game of Thrones.

As you may remember, the Night King is the leader of the White Walkers who existed long before the age of the First Men. However, he did originally start off as an undisclosed human and many fans see some similarities between him and Daemon Targaryen.

As a result, fans took to social media to share their thoughts over the past few weeks.

One comment read, "I just read a theory about Daemon being the Night King and I don’t want to unsee it now. It would be a perfect way for everything to come full circle. I hope somehow that ends up being true lol."

Another added: "Daemon being The Night King would be a pretty insane plot twist."

Without spoilers, it is pretty clear that Daemon would be dead by the events of Game of Thrones. However, with the Night King being pretty proficient on the back of a dragon, could it be Daemon reborn? You will have to wait to find out.
