HBO’s The Last of Us continues to be wildly successful, as it’s just been nominated for a ludicrous amount of awards at this year’s Emmys.

The first season of The Last of Us wrapped up back in March after nine glorious (and heartbreaking) episodes. No one can deny that Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey absolutely nailed their roles, and I personally can’t wait to see them back on our screens again in season two (even if one will get significantly more screen time than the other).

Take a look at the trailer for The Last of Us season one finale below.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on 18 September (technically 19 September here in the UK, thanks to timezones), and The Last of Us fans are going to be very busy for the entire night cheering on the show and its actors in numerous award categories.

Notably, as Variety reports, The Last of Us has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series (for Pascal and Ramsey, respectively), and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series (specifically in relation to episode three, ‘Long, Long Time’). In total, it’s been nominated for 24 awards.

In fact, the only show that’s been more successful than The Last of Us in terms of nominations is the HBO drama series Succession, and deservedly so. Succession has been nominated for 27 Emmys, including three nominations within the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

Earlier this year, The Last of Us won the award for Best Show at The MTV Movie Awards, but it was also nominated for a rather bizarre category - Best Kiss. Although the show featured multiple touching romantic scenes, the kiss that was selected for the category was, for some reason, Tess getting kissed to death by that random infected guy. Ew.

We'll just have to wait and see how The Last of Us fares at the Emmy Awards in two months' time.
