A brand new version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has been released, with the audiobook series continues to take Audible by storm.
Kicking off back on 4 November with the launch of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the brand-new Harry Potter Audible series is underway with the second book arriving to the app earlier today (16 December).
Audible, who has partnered up with Pottermore Publishing, aims to make the Harry Potter universe “more immersive than ever before” by offering full-cast production of all seven books.
Featuring more than 2,000 hours of the complete, unabridged versions of the book series by J.K. Rowling, each book will be released each month up until May 2026.
Advert
Starring big names such as Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Voldemort, Keira Knightley as Umbridge, James McAvoy as Mad-Eye Moody and more, there is one actor who has made his debut with the launch of the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets audiobook. Kit Harington.
Best known for playing Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, Harington has taken on the role of the flamboyant and compulsive liar Gilderoy Lockhart - and we are lucky enough to have received a sneak preview of his performance.

Quite a Different Role for the Actor
It is safe to say that this does not sound like the Jon Snow that we all associate with Harington and he seems to have thrown himself into quite the challenging role.
As Lockhart only appears in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, this will be the first and last time that we hear Harington’s performance but it is clear that he is definitely going to make a lasting impact.
With one fan saying “he’s good” and another joking when they said, “You know nothing, Gilderoy Lockhart”, it seems as though his performance has been received well.
But we will find out the fanbase's true thoughts when they have listened to the full audiobook throughout the coming days.
Until then, we can look forward to the next audiobook instalment, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which is expected to launch on 13 January 2026.
The third instalment will welcome actor Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù as Sirius Black who is perhaps best known for starring in Gangs of London and Slow Horses.
He will join Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls) who will take on the role of Professor Trelawney.
