With filming for the HBO Harry Potter reboot expected to start soon, fans are still eager to learn which famous faces will be taking on the roles of some of the iconic magical characters.

As it stands, just one actor has been confirmed to be joining the cast of the HBO Harry Potter reboot with the role of Severus Snape going to Paapa Essiedu.

However, the rest of the cast remains a mystery but that has not stopped dedicated Harry Potter fans from revealing their own fan-casts across social media.

With the Golden Trio themselves left to cast, as well as Voldemort, Lupin, Sirius, Dumbledore, and more, it remains to be seen who will take up the mantle.

However, fans have recently turned their attention to which actor could take on the role of “famous author” Gilderoy Lockhart.

Introduced in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and played by Kenneth Branagh in the movie, Lockhart was an interesting character to say the least and with the reboot expected to age-down its characters to fit their canon ages, this fan-cast would actually make sense.

“Harry Styles as Gilderoy Lockhart”, user brittleboyy posted to r/HarryPotteronHBO.

“Lockhart needs to be someone women as old as Mrs. Weasley and girls as young as Hermione could fancy.

Few people have such cross-generational appeal, with Harry Styles being one of them. He fits the age well, and has a few decent acting credits already.”

It is true that Styles has flexed his acting talents in recent years and is perhaps best known for his roles in Dunkirk and Don’t Worry Darling as well as being a world-famous pop-star.

As a result, this role may suit the young actor and it wasn’t long before fellow fans expressed their support.

“I think you just had an original thought, and it's actually a great one,” one comment read.

Another said: “I actually really like this…”

Of course, this is merely a fan-cast and should be taken with a pinch of salt but hopefully it isn’t long before we see who will be taking on the iconic role in the upcoming adaptation.
