Harry Potter Fans Lose It as New Adaptation Drops Release Date

An early holiday treat

There’s a mixed energy within the Harry Potter fandom.

It’s an IP that means so much to so many people, and with several new projects in the pipeline, fans are naturally feeling the excitement.

That being said, so too do many continue to feel alienated by JK Rowling’s controversial actions in recent years in which the author has been accused of transphobia on several occasions.

Perhaps that’s why so many Harry Potter projects are in the pipeline; is Warner Brother’s damage control method pumping out content to drown out the controversy?

Of course, HBO is in the midst of filming the first season of its upcoming Harry Potter TV show which is believed to debut in 2027.

There’s another new adaptation in the works alongside that.

The Wizarding World franchise has partnered with Audible to launch ‘Full-Cast Audio Editions’ of Rowling’s seven novels, all of which have been given release dates.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will land on 4 November 2025, followed by Chamber of Secrets on 16 December, Prisoner of Azkaban on 13 January 2026, Goblet of Fire on 10 February, Order of the Phoenix on 10 March, Half-Blood Prince on 14 April, and The Deathly Hallows on 12 May.

If you’ve only ever read the source novels, typically audiobooks have been brought to life in the past by a single narrator reading all of the parts.

Stephen Fry famously recorded the English version while Jim Dale voiced the US edition.

This new venture from Audible will see the various novels brought to life by a full cast though; that’s the unique appeal here.

Arabella Stanton is the only star of the HBO series to appear, offering fans a brief glimpse of her take on Hermione.

She’ll be joined by Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed as Snape, Matthew Macfadyen as Voldemort, Michelle Gomez as McGonagall, Cush Jumbo as the narrator, Frankie Treadway as Harry Potter, Max Lester as Ron Weasley, Jason Knopf as the older Harry in books four to seven, with Nina Barker-Francis portraying the older Hermione, and Rhys Mulligan as the older Ron.

It’s a pretty stacked cast, with Audible teasing that more cast members will be unveiled soon.

Already though, fans are losing it at this imminent adaptation.

“Amazing ngl,” wrote one Twitter/X user.

“Hugh Laurie as Dumbledore is a fun choice. Can’t wait to hear that,” added another.

“Looking forward,” exclaimed a fan.

Well, there’s only three months to go until that first instalment drops.
