Harry Potter fans divided over Voldemort's new look for HBO series

Although we have not yet received official confirmation over potential castings for HBO’s Harry Potter reboot, it has not stopped fans from speculating on their dream line-ups.

The highly-anticipated Harry Potter reboot is expected to air some time next year, bringing the book and movie series of the same name to the television screen for the first time.

Go back to where it all began with the trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone below!

Telling us the story of the Boy Who Lived once again, we will follow Harry as he discovers his magic origins, attends Hogwarts and gets hunted down by the Dark Lord himself.

It is the Dark Lord, otherwise known as Voldemort, which is the recent topic of discussion when it comes to casting rumours as fans have united over the actor they would like to see replace Ralph Fiennes in the iconic role.

That actor is Cillian Murphy.

Best known for his roles in Peaky Blinders and for his Oscar-winning performance in Oppenheimer, Murphy seems to be the fans' first choice for Voldemort.

So much so that they recently took to r/HarryPotteronHBO to discuss what Murphy, and Voldemort in general, should look like in the reboot.

With one fan sharing an edited image of Murphy as the snake-like wizard, others soon headed to the comments to share their ideal look for Voldemort the second time around.

The top comment read, “I've always imagined Voldemort with David Bowie's face. He always had reptilian features and it was unsettling (although he was a great singer and I miss him).”

User SickBurnBro shared a description from the novel to help illustrate their point.

“Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think we need a new take on Voldy's nose to distinguish this version,” they commented.

"There are different ways you could take that. You could have the nose be mostly flat instead of entirely flush against his cheeks. You could change the orientation or design of the slit nostrils. Let's look at different snake noses in nature for inspiration and drum up some new concept art," they continued.

It seems as though the majority of fans would like to see a different look for Voldemort and with filming expected to begin soon, it may not be long before we see official concept art for the man himself.
