Ghost of Yotei came out last month, and it’s been getting rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
One thing that is notable about Ghost of Yotei is that it brings the story forward by 300 years following its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima.
Despite Jin Sakai not really appearing in Ghost of Yotei (well, beyond some fun references and a rather nice tribute to the character), Sony is clearly not finished with the character yet, as production on the upcoming film adaptation progresses.
Sony Is Adapting Ghost Of Tsushima Into A Film
The film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima was announced back in March 2021, around nine months after the game was released during 2020.
At the time, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions announced that the project would be directed by Chad Stahelski, experienced Hollywood stuntman and director of the John Wick films.

Details on the film are still light, but considering its title “Ghost of Tsushima”, it’s understood that it will adapt the plot of the first game, with Jin Sakai appearing as the main character.
Ghost of Tsushima will be produced by Stahelski, along with Alex Young, and Jason Spitz of 87Eleven Entertainment and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.
Sucker Punch Productions is also acting as an executive producer for the project, with Peter Kang overseeing production on the company’s behalf.

We also know that the script is being penned by Takashi Doscher, and Stahelski has said that it is complete.
“We have a script, we're very close to getting our s**t together on that, as well,” Stahelski said back in 2023. “Development is always tricky, it's studios, it's strikes, and availabilities, and scouting. You have to will things into existence."
He added: “I think the two things that I am closest and most interested in are Highlander and Ghost of Tsushima. Both amazing, amazing properties, the story of Ghost is, also, one of my favourite properties of all time.”
As for whether Daisuke Tsuji could return to play Jin in the live-action film, nothing has been confirmed yet. The cast for the upcoming film has not been announced, nor has a potential filming date.

Tsuji has said that he’s ready to return to the role though if asked, especially if it means he gets to do “butt nudity”.
When we asked Tsuji about potentially returning to the role, he told GAMINGbible, “Sadly, I don’t see that happening right now. If I were to play Jin again, it would have to be an older version, which could be interesting.”
