Video game adaptations are more popular than ever and with some of our favourite titles getting the live-action treatment, it seems as though another is on the way.
From The Last of Us to Uncharted, Fallout to Silent Hill, video game adaptations are all the rage lately so it is no surprise that the Far Cry franchise is the next to make its way to the big screen.
Announced just yesterday, Far Cry will be getting a TV adaptation that aims to “explore the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens”.
“So uh… remember when we said FARCRY stories always escalate? Yeah. FX took that personally,” the official Tweet reads.

“A brand-new FARCRY anthology series is coming to Hulu with a whole new setting, new cast, and the exact level of chaos your therapist told you to avoid. Good luck out there.”
Set to stream on Hulu, Far Cry will welcome Alien Earth’s Noah Hawley as producer and perhaps most excitingly, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob Mac will also be producing but also starring in the adaptations.
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley.
“To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens is a dream come true.

I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.”
Although the project is still in its early stages with no news of a release window, it seems as though the aim for Far Cry is to give viewers a little taste of the various games across the Ubisoft franchise with each season representing one game.

Each Season Will Tell a New Story
As Far Cry fans will know, each game in the series has a unique and different setting with its very own “big bad”.

"Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realised," added Mac.
"Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support."
Following the news, fans took to social media to share their thoughts.
“Huge wasted opportunity if they don’t get Michael Mando back to play Vaas in live-action,” one user claimed.

Another agreed, adding, “If Season 1 doesn’t start with, 'Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?', I’m turning off my TV.”
It remains to be seen which game will be portrayed in live-action first but there is no denying that this Far Cry live-action series has already piqued fan interest.
