A new Fallout fan film has just been released, and it’s well worth spending the 47 minutes to watch it in full.
Amazon’s Fallout TV series is coming back for a second season next week, and it feels like Fallout as a franchise has now transcended video games and become an excellent fit for the screen.
It’ll probably be a while until we get a new Fallout game, so these productions feel like a great way to tide us over until Bethesda decides to stop dragging it out.
Fallout Operation: Sunburst is a film that has been uploaded to YouTube in its entirety and can be watched for free. Created by Fallout fan SODAZ, the film depicts a major battle that occurred prior to the events of Fallout: New Vegas.

Based on the Operation: Sunburst that is referenced in Fallout: New Vegas, the film depicts an intense battle between the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel and the New California Republic.

Fallout Operation: Sunburst Depicts Unseen Battle From Fallout: New Vegas
The animation focuses on the battle for HELIOS One, a pre-war energy plant that is located in the Nevada wasteland.
As Fallout fans know, by the time of New Vegas, the Brotherhood had been pushed out of the plant and into the Hidden Valley, with the NCR remaining to try and restart the plant as an alternative source of power.
You can watch the film in full below. Make sure you get comfy.
Fallout: Operation Sunburst is made in the Unity engine, which is typically used for video game development, but in this case the filmmakers used real filming and practical effects to make it look like the world of Fallout. It also uses music from the games, giving it a stronger link to the rest of the series.
Altogether, it’s a pretty interesting project and worth your time to watch in full.
The animation is particularly impressive, with the different effects and editing being great for a fan film.
Hopefully Bethesda realises the gold mine it’s sitting on in terms of how popular the Fallout franchise is. The Amazon Prime Video TV series is great, and we’re glad it’s getting a second season, but it’s really about time we got a new game.
Still, for the time being at least we can enjoy the TV series, plus whatever new custom content fans are creating for older Fallout games.
