DCU Batman casting update is not at all what we expected

The DCU is looking bright

The DCU has reportedly landed on its live-action Robin, and it might be a controversial choice for the boy wonder.

I’ll be honest I’m not the biggest Robin fan but I love the Teen Titans, so I’m excited to see how James Gunn adapts them for the big-screen in his new DCU.

The first step for DC’s new cinematic universe is Superman though, releasing this July

The Teen Titans film is reportedly looking for its cast right now, and according to Daniel Richtman the Robin we’ll see lead the team is Damien Wayne.

In most iterations it’s Dick Grayson’s version of Robin that leads the Titans, implying that in the DCU Dick Grayson might have already grown up and become Nightwing.

Damien Wayne is a pretty controversial choice too because if I recall most incarnations of Batman’s fifth Robin have been met with a lot of criticism.

I tend to dislike him too in most iterations, but the animated films that came out a few years ago did a pretty good job with his character so if the DCU shows a similar sort of development we could be onto something good.

In terms of actual actors for the role, nothing has been shared just yet but they’ll likely be on the younger side.

Robin isn’t the only member of the Teen Titans though, and it’s unconfirmed which version of the team we’ll be seeing on the big screen.

Typically characters like Raven, Starfire, Cyborg and Beast Boy are part of the group but like The Justice League it’s pretty interchangeable, and knowing James Gunn we’ll probably get a few deep-cut characters added to the team.

Teen Titans will be written by Ana Nogueira, the same writer for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film, though a release window for the film hasn’t been shared.
