Batman is a mythical, eternal character in pop culture and he’s not going anywhere anytime soon, which is why it’s always exciting when there’s a new project on the way that gives someone new a chance to put on the cowl and be the Batman.

We’ve seen comics, films, TV shows, video games and more, all bringing a different spin on the character and his most daring adventures.

Who knows what will be adapted for The Batman Part 2, but you’ll have to watch The Penguin first as it directly ties into the events of the upcoming film

One such adventure is yet to get a proper adaptation, Knightfall, the iconic tale where Batman gets his back broken by Bane, and then his city is taken over by Azrael who took up the Bat-mantle while he was gone.

Yes I know The Dark Knight Rises did the Bane back-breaking thing but it was a very loose adaptation, so shush.

The story is now getting an animated trilogy though, and reports say Anson Mount and Pablo Schreiber will be starring in undisclosed roles.

You may know Anson Mount from Star Trek: Discovery, and he also played Black Bolt in Marvel’s The Inhumans and Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness. Pablo Schreiber is perhaps best-known for his role of Master Chief in the live-action Halo series.

It’s unclear who they’ll play in the animated films, but if I had to guess I’d say Mount will be our new Dark Knight whereas Pablo will be either Bane or Azrael.

James Gunn’s newly formed DCU is also looking for a new Batman so perhaps if they’re well-received they could make the jump to the big-screen in a live-action project.

It’s unknown when the first part of the Batman: Knightfall animated film is set to drop, so stay-tuned for additional updates, same bat-time, same bat-channel.
