The Joker is a constant thorn in the side of Batman and even in the new Absolute universe, which reboots all of DC Comics’ mainline heroes, Joker is lurking.

Some of the points in this article could be considered spoilers for the comic book Absolute Batman, so if you fear you’ll see things you shouldn’t, leave now.

SEGA and Atlus have brought us yet another outstanding RPG that examines the dark themes surrounding us in Metaphor ReFantazio

Absolute Batman #1 is here and it’s already shaping up to be a much darker and more thrilling look at the Dark Knight.

This new Batman is not a rich kid with all the funds at his disposal, but a blue-collar worker who saw his parents gunned down in broad daylight.

It seems from the first issue that Batman’s biggest nemesis is also hiding in plain sight and Alfred has been keeping an eye on him.

The Joker barely appears in the issue but one panel, which has been shared on Reddit has a huge sinister undercurrent.

From what we see, this version of the Joker is yet to fall into his obsession with Batman, the cracks are only just starting to show in the character, which makes him seem more dangerous than ever.

It seems, from what we’ve seen that the backgrounds of the protagonist and antagonist have been reversed.

As one Redditor explains, “Obviously, it makes sense for low class Batman's arch enemy to be a rich Joker and it plays with the "problem" of the main Batman being a rich dude who beats up poor criminals.”

All that money is only going to make the evil schemes much worse, right?

VegetaFan1337 says, “I like it. I predict he might laugh during a confrontation with Batman and that begins his obsession with Batman.”

Another fans says, “I personally think he’s gonna be a looming threat”

It’s early days for the comic book run, but the reaction seem positive and this Joker feels really unhinged and awful already.
