Without question, one of the most iconic villains in all of cinema has to be Lord Darth Vader of the Star Wars franchise, but his origins may not be what we thought it was.

As we all know, before he became Lord Darth Vader and disciple of Emperor Palpatine, he was a loyal Jedi Padawan under the guidance of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Just a heads up, I’m about to go into spoilers for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, so this is your spoiler warning.

Check out the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith trailer below!

In Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi have an epic and heartbreaking battle on the planet Mustafar, in which Anakin is not only defeated by his former Jedi Master but is also severely mutilated.

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, we see the badly defeated Anakin on an operating table to be rebuilt as Lord Darth Vader sporting his swanky new outfit, which also hides a grotesque secret that we wish we never knew.

We see droids rebuilding Anakin from the brink of death and some may have believed that his suit was from the maniacal mind of Emperor Palpatine but apparently, that is not the case. According to an answer provided on Quora.com, the suit was created by Dr Cylo.

It is said that Dr Cylo worked closely with Emperor Palpatine to create biomechanical hybrids and was a keen admirer of General Grievous, a master strategist Kaleesh cyborg who we first met in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars and then as a loyal servant to Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

It is also claimed that Dr Cylo even tried to defeat Lord Darth Vader in battle and hoped that a kill switch that was installed in the suit intended to leave the Sith Lord crippled when activated would be the key to his success. However, let’s just say that it never ended well for the doctor.
