With Cyberpunk 2077 being one of the most popular RPG franchises in recent memory, it’s no wonder that publisher CD Projekt is looking at as many ways as possible to expand upon its universe.

Not content with the success of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and not to mention the recent Phantom Liberty expansion, you can also enjoy its sci-fi world courtesy of the awesome Edgerunners Netflix anime series, as well as tabletop board games, novels, and much more.

Back in October 2023, a Cyberpunk live-action adaptation was announced by the creators of Mr Robot in collaboration with Anonymous Content. At this time, it has not been announced whether this Cyberpunk live-action production will be a series or a movie. Only time will tell.

“A live-action project set in the Cyberpunk universe will enable us to reach an even wider audience. We are happy to enlist the support of Anonymous Content – a highly experienced and renowned partner – in pursuing our ambitions,” said Michał Nowakowski, CCO and Board Member of CD Projekt in a press release.

Other than not knowing whether the Cyberpunk live-action production will be a series or movie, we don’t know when it will be released either. However, in a recent financial report, it’s implied that the production might not be released until at least 2025.

“In terms of the Cyberpunk IP, we're going to be nurturing and developing it through activities going beyond the game as well - in the scope of the franchise flywheel that we have running. We're not really discussing specifics here, but one of the directions we'll be moving in next year is the project announced with Anonymous Content - but that's not going to be the only thing. Again - more to come as we progress through 2024. It's definitely not going to be quiet,” said Nowakowski.

Nowakowski teases other projects for next year and beyond. I for one will be hoping for a second season of Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. As for the immediate future, fans can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
