Amazon Prime Video has just revealed a first look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video.
As revealed by Prime Video on Instagram and Reddit, the image shows Turner dressed as the iconic video game heroine.
The image serves as part of the announcement that production on the Amazon Tomb Raider series is ramping up, following casting announcements from earlier this month.
As you can see from the image, which I've linked below, Prime Video's version of Lara Croft sports the character's classic blue leotard and brown shorts, as well as those iconic red sunglasses and dual pistols.

Amazon Prime Video's Tomb Raider Series Is Shaping Up To Be Excellent
From this, we can probably assume Amazon's interpretation of the series will be based on the classic games developed by Core Design, which were released between 1996 and 2003.

Frankly, we're obsessed with it. It's really close to how the character is presented in the original games, particularly the first three.
With rumours that the first season of the show will follow the first game, I can clearly picture her fighting off a T-rex in the middle of the jungle. Let's hope Amazon has spared no expense in the CGI budget for a scene like this.

Following live-action performances from Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, these are big shoes to fill, but this first look at Turner in the role is sure to win over any naysayers.

Known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones (2011-2019), Turner has since played roles in Fox's X-Men series as Jean Grey, and more recently appeared as professional jewel thief Joan Hannington in ITV's Joan series.
Amazon's Tomb Raider series is being written by Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and co-stars Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver in addition to Turner's role as the titular video game here.
Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein have also been confirmed for roles in the TV series.
Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner, and is joined by Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer. Jonathan Van Tulleken will also serve as director and executive producer.
