Lara Croft has enjoyed a ton of iconic looks over the years, starting with the polygon-lite effort that first appeared on the PlayStation 1. In more recent times, she has become a darker and more complex character, with her change in look reflecting this additional depth.

The details about her next appearance in the main Tomb Raider series are thin on the ground right now. What we do know is that Tomb Raider 12, as it’s being known for lack of a real title, will continue the Unified Timeline introduced in Netflix's Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.

Beyond that, it’s a barren wasteland, including what exactly she’s going to look like. In the meantime, the character is appearing in Dead by Daylight with a classic, yet refreshed look that fans are absolutely loving.

As part of that, many have taken to social media to share their belief that the design should serve as a major inspiration for the next game in the series.

“She looks great, I have high hopes for the next game! Also, I love that her belt is actually in belt loops. It always bugged me that her belt was just over her pants,” one said.

Another added, “Hope this is the same model they use for the new game. Looks like a perfect mix between the old and new Lara.”

Others were less convinced, believing the design continues to stray from the simplicity that defined Lara’s early aesthetic.

“Face and hair looks great, however the combination of sternum strap + pendant + white undershirt continues to look cluttered and messy as with every unified Lara we have seen... wish they would rethink that aspect of the outfit design.”

Whatever direction the design team does end up taking with the next Tomb Raider game, they are going to have a tough time getting it right in everyone’s book.
