The Witcher 3 is going to get a brand new “story DLC” at some point in 2026, according to an insider who has been pretty on the money regarding CD Projekt RED-related information in the past.

Is the wait for The Witcher 4 starting to take its toll? Well, don’t fret, because apparently some new, paid story content for The Witcher 3 is on its way next year.

This news comes by way of two Polish podcasters Rock and Boris, both of whom seem to have some kind of working relationship with CD Projekt RED.

However, this news seems to have snowballed into something a little larger than it actually is, possibly as a result of the language barrier at play.

A few posts online, such as this one on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, state that Rock and Boris revealed that an “expansion” for The Witcher 3 is inbound, which isn’t technically correct.

They specifically state that the DLC is a “story” focused piece of content, which, to me, implies something on a much smaller scale than a full blown Blood and Wine-sized expansion… and it would seem that the commenters find it equally hard to believe.

“A couple of quests that bridge the gap between 3 and 4? Sure,” commented user Saranshobe.

”Full on expansion so late? Hard to believe tbh.”

“Maybe a small series of tie-in quests but a whole expansion sounds like a stretch,” replied user ComeAlongWithTheSnor.

Personally, as much as I’m sure it would sell well, I’m not sure that a 40+ hour expansion for a 10 year old game is something that CD Projekt RED would be keen to devote too many resources to at the moment.

However, a little piece of tie-in DLC to tie The Witcher 3 into The Witcher 4? Now that I can see. Sounds like an easy way to generate some early buzz for their next big game.
