The Witcher fans will be pleased to hear The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting new content next year, meaning another playthrough is on the cards.

The hype for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt isn’t exaggeration. It truly is one of the best games ever made.

CD Projekt Red must have used some sort of magic during the development of the game because no matter how many times you play it, it never gets old.

With that in mind it makes you wonder how The Witcher IV will top it, but with Ciri as its lead protagonist it’s already on the right track.

Before we get to the next Witcher game though The Witcher 3 still has some life in it. CD Projekt Red has continued to support the game long after its final DLC dropped with an upcoming update bringing full-on mod support for all platforms.

This includes versions of the game on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, but not Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2.

Basically the new update will do something similar to what Bethesda has done with games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4 and so on. Users will be able to upload their mods and after what I’d assume to be an approval process the mod will go live and become downloadable for console users.

It’s a game-changer and I mean that quite literally.

The Witcher 3 already feels infinitely replayable and this new update will likely allow for hundreds of additional playthroughs on both Xbox and PlayStation, through fan-made side quests, new collectibles and more.

Unfortunately CD Projekt Red delivered some bad news yesterday. You see, the mod update was supposed to go live this year but has been hit with a delay.

The update will now be coming some time in 2026, though CD Projekt Red didn’t name a specific date.

We all know CD Projekt Red’s history with delays. The Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco isn’t one many of us are going to forget and I’m sure the studio won’t either. That said this delay is far less controversial and if the new features aren’t working right there’s no point releasing it before its time.

2026 could be a big year for fans of The Witcher. With this new update for The Witcher 3 on the way and potentially more news/gameplay for The Witcher 4, we could be in for some exciting developments.
