The future is looking bright for The Witcher franchise, especially as The Witcher 4 is expected to launch in the next few years.
However, according to a recent report, CD Projekt RED may just have another surprise in the works.
Announced for the first time in December 2024, The Witcher 4 will mark the next instalment in the hit RPG series, following The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015.
Featuring Ciri as the brand-new protagonist, The Witcher 4 will be the start of a whole new saga and so it seems as though CD Projekt RED have found a way to make the transition even smoother.
Advert
According to Mateusz Chrzanowski, an analyst at Noble Securities, a paid expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released in May 2026 as a way to bridge the story between the 2015 release and The Witcher 4.
Alongside a significant increase in production and marketing for The Witcher 4, which he expects will launch in Q4 2027, this DLC would serve as a bridge between the final instalment of the previous trilogy and the start of another.
"We expect the next paid add-on (DLC) for The Witcher 3 to be released in May 2026.
“We assume sales of 11 million copies at $30 each next year.
We estimate the production budget at PLN 52 million.

The release should kick off the proper marketing campaign for The Witcher 4,” the report reads.
A Busy Schedule for CDPR
It is important to note that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt DLC has not been officially confirmed by CD Projekt RED itself.
As of now, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has two DLCs: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine which were both critically acclaimed expansions.
However, it has been many years since they were released and CDPR has yet to even hint at more content for The Witcher 3.
Nevertheless, it seems as though Chrzanowski is sure that another expansion is on the way, perhaps showing us how Ciri came to be a Witcher, or setting the scene for a brand-new setting in The Witcher 4.
This comes alongside multiple other CDPR projects such as the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Orion, as well as Sirius, Canis Majoris and Hadar.
Put simply, the future is looking bright for fans of both The Witcher and Cyberpunk and if this report is true, we could be receiving even more The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt content as early as May.
