The Simpsons: Hit & Run dominated my childhood, and I’m sure that’s the same for many of you.

Launched by Radical Entertainment and Vivendi Universal Games in 2003, The Simpsons: Hit & Run was essentially the franchise’s answer to Grand Theft Auto.

Players are tasked with completing all manner of precarious missions around Springfield, trying to avoid the attention of the town’s police force as they do so.

Unfortunately, a sequel to The Simpsons: Hit & Run has never arisen despite the game’s cult classic popularity.

There is an awesome new Futurama mod I’d recommend you check out if you do have a copy of the game on PC.

If you don’t, worry not, as a spiritual successor of sorts is about to arrive across all modern console platforms.

Fortnite is set to launch a limited-time The Simpsons season in its popular battle royale, and it’s channeling the same energy as The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

The leaks have started

Epic is remaining tight-lipped on the upcoming The Simpsons season although as with everything in Fortnite, a ton of content has already leaked online.

That includes the key art which shows familiar characters like Homer, Marge, Moe, Bart, Ned, and Krusty all within the Fortnite universe, weapons in tow.

Interestingly, they’re all within the usual Simpsons art style; they haven’t been given a Fortnite makeover which does make you wonder what aesthetic the season will boast.

There is a new Peely skin on the way, by the looks of things.

I also appreciate that the Kwik-E-Mart has been replaced with the Burd-E-Mart.

An early version of the map has also leaked confirming that we will indeed be getting to explore an open-world Springfield.

Unlike the recent Star Wars Galactic Battle season, the upcoming Simpsons event won’t just bring Simpsons locations to the pre-existing Chapter 6 map.

Chapter 6 will draw to a close entirely when Fortnitemares ends, which reminds me I need to lock in and finish the Battle Pass.

Then, the new Simpsons map will arrive including the Power Plant, Burns Manor, and Evergreen Terrace.

It’s believed this will be a short season, running for around four weeks or so, bridging the gap before Chapter 7 arrives.

Hopefully, a full reveal is right around the corner.

There’s no doubt though that if you were a The Simpsons: Hit & Run fan, you’ll likely have heaps of fun in this limited-time free event.

Bring it on.
