Steam users can play a variety of games on Valve’s storefront but if you’re particularly interested in first-person shooters this game might be for you one day.
This year’s Game Awards are going to be a competitive affair as there have been so many great titles released so far, but we can’t forget some of the great upcoming titles still on the way.
Rules Of Engagement: The Grey State is one such game, as it looks like Call Of Duty was a supernatural shooter.
In some ways it does have a similar vibe to the Last Of Us, but there's some eldritch terror inspiration in there like Still Wakes The Deep.

The game’s Steam description reads: “A new gold rush has begun. In this Tactical RPG Shooter, you are a Strider, an elite operative sent into the Grey State to retrieve priceless artifacts. Craft your own build, survive nightmarish creatures and rival squads, and get paid. This isn't about saving the world. It's just business.”
Something important to note about this is it’s not just a PvE game, it’s a PvPvE extraction shooter so if that’s not your cup of tea it might not be for you. It does look interesting though, and quite frankly the world that’s been created for the game looks terrifying.
There are some really bold and ghoulish monster designs on display with many clearly taking a bit of inspiration from beloved cryptid monsters like Siren Head.

It doesn’t look like you’ll be short of creatures to fight which should hopefully add some replay value, so you’re not just facing the same foes over and over again.
Moving on to the release date for Rules Of Engagement: The Grey State, it’s not the best news.
Like many ace-looking games found on Steam Rules Of Engagement: The Grey State doesn’t even have a release window yet, so a 2025 release seems out of the question.
That said, the screenshots and gameplay footage provided look nearly finished so I wouldn’t be too surprised to see it launch sometime next year.

Luckily if you’ve decided this game might be for you, you can either add it to your wishlist on Steam or there’s a Discord to join which will likely be the best place for updates on its development and launch day.
Rules Of Engagement: The Grey State might not be for everyone given its genre but it’s at least got me interested.
