The Last of Us fans are convinced that actress Shannon Berry has already been selected to play the controversial character, Abby Anderson.

It’s fair to say that the fanbase was split in terms of the shocking events that transpired quite early on in The Last of Us Part II involving the introduction of Abby. I won't give anything away, but if you know, you know.

We’re only two episodes into The Last of Us TV series and following the premiere of its debut episode, it was already smashing records for HBO. However, despite not making her appearance until the video game sequel, fans have been casting potential actors for the role of Abby.

Many names have been thrown around across social media including Florence Pugh, Erin Kellyman and Shannon Berry, to name but a few. However, it’s the latter of those names that have perhaps been gathering the most attention.

In fact, fans have been speculating as to whether The Last of Us co-creator, Neil Druckmann has already approved the casting of Shannon Berry as Abby. Why has this conclusion been made? Well, Druckmann is following Shannon Berry on Instagram.

Of course, Druckmann following Berry on social media isn't a lot to go by, and that kind of speculation should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, sometimes certain actions can be more than just a mere coincidence.

What’s more, as reported by GGRecon, series showrunner, Craig Mazin has previously stated that he hopes to take inspiration from The Last of Us: Part II in future seasons. So surely, this means that Abby is inevitable as Thanos, right?

Furthermore, in a tweet shared by The Last of Us News, on 28 December 2022, Berry acknowledged that fans were comparing her likeness to Abby. Could this mean that the seed has long been planted? We can only speculate at this time.

New episodes of The Last of Us are airing every Sunday in the US and Monday in the UK, respectively.
