The First Descendant has just launched its Season 2, and you can now claim a special free reward for the free-to-play shooter.

Free MMO The First Descendant launched earlier this year and is now up to its second season of content drops.

The next season brings a new episode, two characters, a dungeon, and weapons into the fold. It’s enough content that you may want to boot the game up if you’re yet to check it out.

And what’s more, Nexon is offering a little early Christmas freebie for anyone who logs into the game over the holiday period.

If you're unfamiliar with The First Descendant, here's a trailer.

As part of the Winter Festival Attendance Check, players who log in to The First Descendant will be treated to daily rewards as a result of logging in. The more days you play, the more rewards you can claim.

If you log in for one day though you’ll receive Descendant Exchange Tokens for free, which allows you to unlock any of the characters available from the roster.

Considering how pricey some of those characters can be, it seems like you’re best off taking advantage of the event to unlock them.

Season 2 of The First Descendant also brings a lot more with it. You can get the new episode, Void Chaser, along with the Void Vessel operation. There’s also a new Descendant, Keelan, as well as Ultimate Sharen to unlock.

The official description of Void Chaser reads: “An unknown ship has been found abandoned at the Void Abyss where radars could not penetrate. Severely mutated Colossi were also detected to be on the move.”

If you want to read the full patch notes, you can check them out here.

Players are already enjoying the new content Nexon has put out for The First Descendant’s second season.

One user wrote: “Can these guys miss? banger update after banger update. So refreshing after years of slop live service games.”

Another user appreciated the amount of effort put into the patch notes, writing: “I feel like I just read a novel, that genuinely took me like 30 minutes to read though it!”

Despite the positive comments, The First Descendant currently has a Mixed overall rating of user reviews on Steam.

Recent reviews are Very Positive though, a sign that the community has preferred the more recent updates Nexon has put out for the game.

The First Descendant Season 2 is available now.
