With the way Bethesda is keeping quiet, it seems as though it will be quite a few years until we finally get to see The Elder Scrolls VI.

However, with fans having waited well over a decade for another entry in The Elder Scrolls series, it is no wonder that The Elder Scrolls VI has become one of the most anticipated games of all time in recent years.

Go back over a decade with the official trailer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim!

With just one short teaser trailer and a brief confirmation that the RPG was in development, we have received nothing else and so fans are starting to look elsewhere for another title which captures the same magic as Skyrim and Oblivion.

Luckily The Wayward Realms does just that.

Set to release soon (and hopefully sooner than TES VI), The Wayward Realms is an upcoming open-world fantasy RPG from the lead developers of the team behind the original The Elder Scrolls games.

With “choice and consequence experienced on a scale never attempted before, The Wayward Realms is getting potential fans hyped and even more so thanks to a recent gameplay trailer.

“A spiritual successor to the Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, The Wayward Realms, a medieval fantasy roleplaying game led by industry veterans Ted Peterson & Julian Lefay, that aims to bring the "old-school" design philosophies of Classic RPGs together with the latest technology and quality of life improvements, courtesy of Unreal Engine 5,” the video description reads.

The video, which consists of almost four-minutes of gameplay footage, gives us our first look at the ambitious RPG.

As you can expect, it is very reminiscent of TES entries with dungeons home to reanimated skeletons, an expansive map to explore (and sail across) and medieval enemies to fight.

Following the new release, it is safe to say that fans were left feeling impressed with The Wayward Realms.

“I love how you managed to keep the style of daggerfall but modern”, one comment read.

Another said: “A game decades in the making. The industry needs this. We need to get it back on track.”

As mentioned, The Wayward Realms has not yet got an official release date but this is definitely one to keep on your radar in the meantime.
