We’re in the midst of summer showcase season with State of Play having passed a few days ago on 2 June.
It’s the turn of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest today, 5 June, with the annual Xbox Showcase set to follow on Sunday, 7 June.
During that Xbox event, many gamers will likely be hoping to see Bethesda surface.
Starfield recently dropped a new story DLC, so it’s unlikely that the title will receive anything else new at this stage.

I could see Fallout 76 getting yet another update, perhaps one featuring another cast member of the TV series following in the footsteps of The Ghoul making his way over to the world of gaming.
The announcement that gamers are craving most is an update on The Elder Scrolls VI.

While Bethesda has made assurances over the years that it is indeed in development, nothing has been seen of the game since its initial reveal trailer dropped in 2018.
Clearly, it was announced long before it should’ve been but even still, an update is very much overdue.
Could a new trailer arrive this year? It doesn’t seem that way, especially if this leaked launch window is anything to go by.
Xbox insider Jez Corden has surfaced ahead of the upcoming Xbox Showcase, claiming that The Elder Scrolls VI will not feature in this weekend’s show.
That’s both a disappointment and completely unsurprising, but there is a glimmer of hope.
Corden, as spotted by Comic Book, previously also stated that The Elder Scrolls VI is slated to release in either 2028 or 2029.
That’s quite a way off, so it’s perhaps fair to say that we’re not likely to see a trailer until 2027 at the earliest. It’s nice to know we’re on the final countdown though.
Of course, The Elder Scrolls VI shouldn’t be rushed; there’s a lot of pressure on Bethesda to get it right, especially after Starfield.
Starfield wasn’t a bad game at all. There’s lots to love about it.
There is an argument to be made though, for Bethesda’s formula feeling a tad dated these days.
Many didn’t gel with Starfield and put it down to the sprawling space setting, treating The Elder Scrolls VI as a hopeful return to form.
There’s a very real risk, however, that The Elder Scrolls VI could feel much the same way if Bethesda isn’t careful.
We can’t have yet another release where NPCs stare at the player in that sterile, dead behind-the-eyes way.
The Elder Scrolls VI can’t just be a return to form. I fear it has to be something new.
Thankfully, Bethesda has plenty more years seemingly to perfect what it’s working on.
In the meantime, we can find out what’s coming up for Xbox this coming Sunday, 7 June. The event kicks off at 6pm BST / 10am PDT and we’ll be bringing you the latest headlines live.
