The discussion regarding The Elder Scrolls VI’s release date is heating up once again, following a new hint from a well-known leaker.
It’s that time of the month again folks, because someone is certain they know exactly when Bethesda’s long-awaited The Elder Scrolls VI is going to drop.
It’s been over seven years since Bethesda opted to release the teaser trailer for the next Elder Scrolls title, and since then, we’ve heard basically nothing.
Todd Howard and the team did make a point of stating that they’re still hard at work on the game during the live-stream reveal for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, but they opted not to give us any concrete details regarding things like progress made or a release date.
Is The Elder Scrolls 6 Coming In 2026?
It would certainly be a huge year for gamers if GTA VI and The Elder Scrolls VI launched in the same year, but there's little evidence to suggest it's so close. That doesn't mean it isn't closer than we'd have expected, however.

At this point, I think the community would settle for a single screenshot. The radio silence has proven to be concerning (to say the least) for those excited for the next entry in the series, which is why leaks surrounding the game continue to make their way into the headlines.
Case in point, Comicbook’s Tyler Fischer spotted that one very famous leaker, known as eXtas1s, thinks they have an insider scoop regarding The Elder Scrolls VI’s release date.
There isn't too much to his video where TES VI is concerned, but he did state that both Microsoft and Bethesda are leaning towards a 2027 release (according to one of his sources).
But, how likely is it that this is actually a legitimate leak? Eh, I’m not personally putting much stock in it myself.

eXtas1s’ hit rate regarding leaks is all over the place these days. There are some things they’ve gotten absolutely correct, and then there are other leaks they’ve completely whiffed on (like, for instance, when Hollow Knight: Silksong was going to be revealed).
The issue where The Elder Scrolls VI’s release date is concerned is Bethesda, because they have a habit of only announcing things just before they’re set to drop. For instance, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was officially announced directly before it dropped.
When it does finally come time for them to announce the release date of The Elder Scrolls VI, I think they’ll only do so mere months before it’s going to hit store shelves (much like they did with Fallout 4).
For now, unless it comes from a source with some evidence, I highly suggest not putting any stock in leaks like this. Bethesda themselves probably don’t even know when they’re going to release the game yet, so I doubt a leaker will either.
