The Xbox Summer Showcase came and went with no announcement or trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI, and many fans were left feeling disappointed.
Not only because the game is so highly anticipated, but because the game was formally announced by Bethesda back in 2018, making it several years since the game was shown on a big stage.
Since then, fans have considered this far too early to announce The Elder Scrolls VI was in production, as it set hops incredibly high, with many believing it was due out within a couple of years of the reveal.

Now, over on Reddit, some believe that showing the game in 2018 was actually a good thing.
“This was not ill-advised, nor a bad choice,” said Wrong_Win_4102, who went on to explain that many players wanted to see a traditional single player game from Bethesda in a sea of multiplayer games throughout the rest of the industry.
Replying to this, Amulet-of-kings comments, “There was no need to announce TES VI, Starfield would have been enough. I'd say that the main reason for announcing both was to make Bethesda more attractive/valuable to potential buyers.”
There’s a lot to be said for building up hype years in advance, but Bethesda were stung by this jumping the gun, and even Todd Howard has noted that they announced it too early.

SmartAlec13 notes, “I wouldn’t call it a bad idea or ill-advised. It let us know that it exists, and it’s being worked on. The only part some people are salty about is that it’s been a long while SINCE this teaser came out.”
I’d argue that people are ‘salty’ that their hopes were set high, and since then, every time Bethesda shows something it leads to disappointment that it isn’t the next Elder Scrolls game.
