'The Boys' Season 3 Moment Taken From Infamous Donald Trump Quote, Says Writer

This article contains spoilers for season three of The Boys.

The Boys’ third season has finally drawn to a close and oh lord, what a season it was. You may have blocked it from your memory but let’s not forget how the season kicked off; with Termite accidentally exploding his partner’s penis. You could say that the season started with a bang … too much?

If that didn’t traumatise viewers, The Boys set out to do so with their next eyebrow-raising scene. I’m talking about the superhero orgy. You know, the one complete with “airborne penetration, dildo-based maiming, extra strength lube, icicle phalluses and cursing.” That one. Well, the season finale was less sex-crazed but it did contain a scene inspired by a Donald Trump quote, which is perhaps more disturbing than watching The Deep get jiggy with an octopus.

Check out this incredible The Boys mod in GTA V which allows you to play as Homelander.

During the episode, Homelander introduced his superpowered son to a crowd of fans when a protester threw something at poor young Ryan. Thankfully, he was unharmed but it didn’t stop Homelander from losing his chill. Homelander proceeded to laser the bloke’s head in half and it was thoroughly gruesome. Weirdly, the crowd didn’t think so. After a brief silence, they chanted “F**k yeah,” and whooped and cheered in support.

It turns out, the moment was inspired by a Donald Trump quote. Explaining his die-hard support, Trump once infamously said, “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose any voters, ok? It’s, like, incredible.” Big yikes that that isn’t a work of fiction.

The Boys’ showrunner Eric Kripke opened up to Deadline about the scene. He said, “Could we take Homelander so far as to literally kill somebody on Fifth Avenue and then be applauded for it? It’s funny. It’s like at the time we wrote it, we felt it was a little satirically pushed, but it is true that the more awful politicians are behaving, you know, the more popular they’re becoming with their fan base.” Point made.
