The Batman sequel series trailer drops

The first trailer for The Penguin is here - the eight-episode series stars Colin Farrell as the titular DC supervillain.

It’s time. After months of buildup, the first trailer for Max’s upcoming spinoff mini-series of The Batman has dropped, and it’s genuinely looking very promising.

The Batman was one of the greatest films to release in 2022, and given its overwhelming success, it’s no wonder that a sequel has already been confirmed. Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role as the caped crusader himself in The Batman: Part II, which is releasing on 3 October 2025, and will actually be the second film in a full Matt Reeves Batman trilogy. Very exciting stuff. However, before either of those films release, we’ve got The Penguin to look forward to - an eight-episode series which is centred around, you guessed it, The Penguin.

Check out the trailer for The Penguin below.

As UNILAD reports, the titular DC supervillain is portrayed by Colin Farrell, and other cast members include Rhenzy Feliz, Cristin Milioti, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Clancy Brown, Michael Zegen, and Deirdre O’Connell.

Over on Twitter, fans are super excited for the series: “I do like the atmosphere and I'm looking forward to seeing this one. Colin was awesome as The Penguin in The Batman,” tweeted @wazjadwiga. “I'm more excited for The Penguin than any MCU project right now!” wrote @spoilingnerd. “So freaking excited. Love The Batman and I need more of its world and characters,” posted @ChanceEdwardHa1.

All in all, it’s a pretty dang exciting time to be a DC fan. Although the controversial restructuring ahead of the rebooted DCU has meant that some shows and films have been cancelled, there’s plenty to look forward to, including Superman: Legacy and another Batman film titled The Brave and the Bold, which will star a different actor as Bruce Wayne, and will include his son, Damian Wayne, as Robin.

At the time of writing, The Penguin has been slated for a very vague 2024 release. Hopefully, we’ll find out a more specific release window sooner rather than later.
