Nintendo has issued a notification of the existence of a fraudulent website that looks extremely like the official Switch eshop, and that customers should take care to ensure that they are safe with their personal and financial information to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
Incredibly enough, the Nintendo Switch celebrates its fifth birthday in 2022 and the adoration for this handheld console continues to come in bucketfuls from lifelong Nintendo fans to new kids on the block. Of course, the question on everyone's lips is when we'll get our mitts on the sequel to Breath of the Wild, which is one of our most anticipated games of this year. Sadly, I'm not able to shed the slightest light on that, yet the subreddit for the legendary adventure is chock-a-block with discoveries five years on from its Switch release.
The Legend of Zelda is an iconic series so it's only apt that we've ranked all of the awe-inspiring moments from those games. Check it out!
Yes, the Switch with all of its is swanky and even swankier now with the features of the OLED version. Yet, it's unfortunate to find out that scammers have tried to flimflam fans into purchasing "games" from a website that looks exceedingly like the actual Switch eshop. Nintendo has identified the offending website and so it is hoped that no more players are tricked into losing their money or their personal information.
"We have confirmed the existence of a fake site that impersonates the Nintendo homepage. These fake sites have nothing to do with us," said the company in an announcement to its Japanese website (translated through Google Translate). "The fake site confirmed this time uses our logo illegally, making it look as if it is operated by us, and purchase our products such as Nintendo Switch at a significantly discounted price."
"Purchasing products on fake sites may result in fraudulent damage such as unauthorized acquisition of personal information. Please be careful not to mistake it for our website, and do not purchase products from fake websites," continued Nintendo, supplying information to those who might have been swindled by the fake website and that law enforcement and related governmental ministries have been alerted to take action against the creators.
