Steam really has become the best place to go if you're looking for free PC games to tide you over during those cold and wintery weekends.

All of the obvious choices like Counter-Strike and Warframe remain great options, but new free games are releasing all the time that are well worth your consideration, particularly given that they don't require you to spend any of your hard earned cash.

The main issue with that is that they can be a little difficult to track down when they're coming in so quickly and it can be difficult to sort what's actually worth your time, and what's just a bit mid, if we're being brutally honest.

Fortunately, that's where we come in! We think this set of four free games here's a new set that has just come in that is well worth looking at.

Murmurs of the Mist Leads Free Steam Games Range

Over on Twitter/X, the handily named Steam Free Games shared four new releases that you’ll likely want to take a look at if you’re in the market for some zero cost gaming goodness.

The first, and most highly rated, of the bunch is Murmurs of the Mist, a psychological horror game where you’ll play as Bunni, the stuffed toy of a seven year-old named Sofia.

It’s a really interesting premise and one that touches upon some quite heavy topics, as the little girl uses the teddy to explain what has happened to her during therapy sessions.

It’s not heavy on mechanics or anything like that, but if you’re into narrative offerings then it could be a great pick for you.

Following on from that is Dwarfare: All For The Forge, a strategy based tower defense game with first person shooter elements.

Both facets on their own look fairly unremarkable, but together they actually look like a fairly unique offering.

Wizard’s Gambit is a 2D card game where you’ll need a combination of strategy and luck to come out on top.

It does have a bunch of interesting elements including the ability to select a faction and take advantage of their unique powers, so worth looking into if you’re a fan of the genre.

Rounding out the four games this time around is Ascendancy, a game where you watch 100 AI-controlled characters take each other on in a battle royale. They all have randomised stats and you can take control of any of them, if you want to try and win for yourself.

That’s the complete list! All are available right now on the Steam storefront, so head over there now if any of them take your fancy.
