Starfield release date is up in the air, but there's some good news

Starfield release date is up in the air, but there's some good news

We still don't have a release date for Starfield, and it sounds like Bethesda's in the same boat.

Starfield is finally on the way this year and let’s be honest, it’s very likely that it’ll end up being a GOTY contender. There’s just one tiny hurdle standing between us and Bethesda’s next epic though. We still don’t have a release date.

I’m not using the word epic lightly. Starfield contains over 1,000 planets for us to explore which is a dizzying number. I thought the Mass Effect series offered a sprawling space adventure, but Starfield is on a stratospheric new level. In a fall from grace, Starfield may be taking over from Halo as the poster-child of Xbox. It’s been announced that a Starfield-centric Developer Direct is on the way so we should get some new details about the title soon. The release date is reportedly still up in the air though.

Take a look at some gameplay from Starfield below.

According to industry insider Jez Corden of Windows Central, Starfield’s launch date is still being deliberated. He wrote, “Starfield's launch date isn't yet set in stone.” There is some good news though because Corden then added, “Speaking to us on condition of anonymity, trusted sources have told us that Starfield is now playable in full from start to finish.” We can’t imagine that the game’s release is too far away then.

Chances are a release date will probably be unveiled during the upcoming Starfield Developer Direct. Just like Starfield, we don’t know when that is coming either. In a blog update, Xbox simply said, “To dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive into Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, a standalone show is in the works.” It’s been quite a while since we last had a glimpse at some gameplay so I’m excited to see more.

Did you know that Starfield reportedly contains more dialogue than Skyrim and Fallout 4 combined? If you thought 1,000 planets to explore was impressive, the fact that there’s 250,000 lines of dialogue may just blow you away. I do wonder how long this game will take to complete.
