Stardew Valley's Free Expansion Is A Must Play, Get Involved

This storied location in Stardew Valley's lore can now be yours to explore

Stardew Valley fans can now fully explore one of the game’s most talked-about - but never accessible - locations in a newly released fan-made expansion.

If you’ve played Stardew Valley as much as I have, you have doubtlessly heard of Zuzu City.

Zuzu City is where seemingly the majority of non-local Stardew Valley’s citizens hail from, and the location pops up a number of times in dialogue and certain in-game heart events.

However, even though the local populace won't shut up about Zuzu City, you never actually get a chance to visit it.

Technically, you might have seen it in Sebastian's 10-heart event, but the jury is out as to whether or not the city skyline he takes you to is indeed Zuzu City, as he only refers to the location as "the city".

Thankfully, a team of modders going by the name of the Zuzu Development Team has made your dreams of visiting the big city a reality, in a mod for Stardew Valley titled Downtown Zuzu.

Admittedly, Downtown Zuzu is one of the most popular mods for Stardew Valley out there, so there’s a good chance you may have already heard of it. However, even though it was uploaded to Nexus Mods well over four years ago, Downtown Zuzu is still being worked on by the team behind it.

Even though the last update for the mod was back in November 2024, the Zuzu Development Team still seems to be hard at work on updating it behind the scenes, and are likely waiting until ConcernedApe releases their recently announced update for Stardew Valley before releasing any more content.

In the meantime though, the current version of Downtown Zuzu is compatible with the most recent Stardew Valley update, allowing you to explore all of its new locations, meet all of its fresh characters, and even complete the extra quests that the team has added over the years.

I highly doubt ConcernedApe is going to add the option to visit Zuzu City to the next (and presumably final) update for Stardew Valley, so it seems like this might be your only option to explore the storied location.

Alternatively, there’s always the chance that his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, might allow us to take a peek into Zuzu City… but that could be out at any point in the next decade, so I highly suggest giving this mod a go if you don’t fancy potentially waiting until 2030.
