I confess, I’m yet to start Star Wars Outlaws, but it’s not that I don’t want to.

In fact, I’ve been itching to jump in for months but Astro Bot happened then Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, LEGO Horizon Adventures … I’ve been busy.

But this isn’t about my excuses. This is about Star Wars Outlaws.

For those of you who have embarked on Kay Vess’ thrilling adventure, you’re going to want to dive back in as the game has just dropped its biggest update ever.

Update 1.04 is here and there’s a lot to cover.

Combat now offers much greater player freedom, with Kay able to use stealth or reach for her blaster even in syndicate territories in cities.

Enemy AI and detection has been improved, with players notified of this, allowing them to change tactics, while enemy weak points have been added to reward strategic gameplay.

If these weak points are targeted, it can “trigger explosions or cause enemies to die in spectacular new ways”.

Kay’s blaster has been re-tuned, with the use of two-handed weapons being expanded throughout the game too.

Facial expressions have been improved as have distant lights.

Star Wars fans can enjoy Skeleton Crew next month.

Moving on from the update’s notable improvements, there’s a ton else that’s been tweaked in the gameplay.

AI speeder usage has been improved, as has weapon aiming, weapon damage values, and death animations.

For the UI, additional indicators have been added to show which blaster modules should be used when aiming at heavy guards, droids, and cameras, or to environmental objects to show unlockable abilities.

It’s now clearer to see whether a takedown could trigger combat, with new colour-coded NPC tags to demonstrate neutrality, awareness, and those in combat.

The wanted system messaging has also been upgraded.

Various dialogue, cinematic, and accessibility options have been tweaked, plus a clean lens option has been added to Photo Mode.

I’m really just scratching the surface so I’d urge you to dive into the update’s patch notes.

If you purchased Outlaws with the Season Pass, the first story pack, Wild Card, is also now available.

Kay is hired to infiltrate a high stakes Sabacc tournament, so I’m sure that too is well worth checking out.

I think I may have to finally find time to start the game this weekend.
