Rumours have been circulating online for years about a potential Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic live-action series, and fans have decided to weigh in on how they feel about it.
It’s either the worst-kept secret in Hollywood or the most successful fake news story ever produced, but the internet will not shut up about the live-action Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic adaptation that’s been making the rounds.
I feel like I’ve been hearing about this one since the mid-2010s, but honestly, it might go back even further than that.
Either way, Disney must be aware of all the chatter about it online, so I’m sure they’re at least thinking about a KOTOR TV show (if they weren’t already before).

Well, the folks over on r/kotor have feelings about a potential live-action series, and it’s pretty difficult to find one that’s even slightly positive.
“I actually don’t think Kotor would translate particularly well to TV… Player choice and role playing are very important aspects of it, and that only really works in a video game. The actual story isn’t as important as the way you move through it”, commented user Quakarot.
“Basically, a video game is already the perfect medium for Kotor, and trying to translate it would only lessen it for that reason, at least, IMO.”
“If Disney makes a live action Revan saga I might actually act like Star Wars never even existed”, replied one user.

“No. We don’t want that. It will be EXTREMELY disappointing.”
“With how Disney and Hollywood are currently, I'd rather have nothing. I can't in good conscience say that a Kotor show should be made given those that would make it. They'd change too much”, commented user UselessGenericon.
“They'd do everything they could to belittle or diminish what we love about it, either out of spite and/or hate. It wouldn't be made with the games in mind. I'd rather them do something else.”
Yup, that’s pretty much the reaction I expected, honestly.

The funny thing is, Amazon are currently moving ahead with another live-action BioWare TV series, in the form of a Mass Effect TV adaptation.
Obviously there are quite a lot of similarities between how the Mass Effect games and KOTOR play, so someone over there must have found a way to translate the choice-based story into a cohesive script.
That’s my way of saying that, regardless of how that show turns out, the nature of the KOTOR games won’t turn execs off of adapting it into a different medium (if they can make some money off of it).
