Star Wars fans are praising Ahmed Best’s incredible performance in the Disney Plus series, The Mandalorian.

In season three, ‘Chapter 20: The Foundling’, directed by Carl Weathers, Star Wars fans were treated to a cameo from the Jar Jar Binks actor, Ahmed Best. It’s very much known in the Star Wars community that Jar Jar Binks isn't the most loved of characters, though he does have a few fans (probably).

Despite being a big part of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks failed to connect with the audience, with his clumsy and bumbling ways often leading those around him into unintentional danger.

By the time we had gotten to Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Jar Jar Binks was reduced to a recognisable, non-speaking extra. In some ways, despite his annoying nature, I felt kind of sorry for the once-exiled Gungan.

Thankfully, nearly 25 years after the release of The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks has been redeemed. Well, kind of. Before we proceed, please be advised that I will be going into spoilers for ‘Chapter 20: The Foundling’ of The Mandalorian. So, you have been warned.

In the most recent episode of The Mandalorian, we were taken to a flashback the moment Order 66 was given, leading a tragic Jedi massacre.

In this flashback sequence from Revenge of the Sith, we see the clone troopers invade the Jedi Temple on Coruscant in which an (even younger) Grogu was located. Facing imminent death while dual-wielding blue and green lightsabers, a Jedi Master by the name of Kelleran Beq - played by Ahmed Best - whisked Grogu off to safety. This, of course, would later lead to Din Djarin’s introduction to ‘baby Yoda’.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Ahmed Best has played the role of Jedi Master, Kelleran Beq. He also donned the robe in the contestant show, Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge in which children are put through their paces to win a series of games to become Jedi Knights.

The Mandalorian airs every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
