After 11 years, we might finally be getting a Splinter Cell Blacklist remaster.

Despite having quite a loyal fandom, Splinter Cell remasters haven’t exactly been plentiful.

However, that could soon be an issue of the past if what this industry insider claims is true.

Up until recently, Splinter Cell remasters have been fan-made projects. Tired of waiting, players took matters into their own hands and gave fans the remaster we deserve.

Ubisoft did manage to surprise fans by revealing Splinter Cell’s return in a new trailer, however, it wasn’t the official remaster everyone had hoped for.

Now though, an insider is claiming that a remaster of at least one of the Splinter Cell titles is going ahead in an official capacity.

As shared on the gaming leaks and rumours subreddit, insider Brazil has spoken about Nintendo’s aim to “court third-party games”.

What this means, so the rumour goes, is that Nintendo is working on third-party remasters of certain games.

According to the insider, one of those games is Splinter Cell Blacklist.

“Brazil specifically mentioned that this initiative is to make sure Switch 1 owners who don't immediately upgrade to Switch 2 still have some new things to play,” the original post on Resetera reads.

Here comes the line you know well by now: this is speculation until proven otherwise.

This isn’t to say Brazil’s claims aren’t accurate, just that without official evidence to back it up, it’s wise to consider it as rumour only.

Even though many of you understand this, it isn’t stopping fans from discussing the validity of this claim, as well as their predictions about when the Switch 2 will finally be revealed.

There’s also some confusion over why Splinter Cell Blacklist has been chosen over other Splinter Cell outings.

“Why Blacklist and not the Xbox trilogy, though? Feel like the latter is much more desirable for a porting job,” argued timelordoftheimpala.

We all have questions. Unfortunately, getting firm answers to them might prove difficult.

That said, so-called insider knowledge is pointing to the possibility of that Splinter Cell remaster.
