Skyrim player finds wild alternate ending to infamous quest, no mods needed

Did you know about this alternate ending in Skyrim?

Without question, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the gift that keeps on giving and well over a decade since its release, players are still discovering new secrets in the world of Tamriel.

Granted, some of those newly discovered secrets might not always be new to us but to others, that unearthed mystery is just one of the many reasons why fans cannot get enough of Bethesda’s fantasy RPG. Skyrim was originally released in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but has been ported to platforms of every generation since.

Check out the Skyrim trailer below!

One secret, in particular, was discovered and shared by Reddit user walter-fring. However, please be advised that we are about to wander into spoiler territory. “I got Commander Maro to assassinate the Emperor. No mods and full explanation in comments,” said the Redditor to fellow members of the thread. The secret in question relates to an alternate ending for one of the games most infamous quests.

“This video was done as close to level one as possible, but progressing with the Dark Brotherhood questline requires levelling up speech, as Anton Virane must be intimidated. Vampiric grip can be used as a human, through exploits. I boosted my magicka by exploiting and equipping multiple novice hoods,” walter-fring explained.

“I used a Scroll of Paralyze (which can be found in Apocrypha or Mzulft), to avoid levelling up Alteration. Talking with an NPC will sometimes make them follow you to the next cell. The battle was done on adept difficulty, as Legendary would have taken too long. The Staff of Revenants can be found in an unmarked ruin, southeast of Morthal.” Now you can try and achieve this ending yourself.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. What’s more, it’s currently included in Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium at no extra cost.
