If you needed another reason to start a new Skyrim playthrough, this mod might have just what you need.

We've all spent hours in that character creation screen. Fine-tuning every little detail. Making sure our character is perfect before they're set loose into the world. It's a sickness, really.

Still, after the 20th or so time playing that Helgen prologue, you might want to switch things up a bit. What if your character wasn't a death row prisoner awaiting execution?

Thanks to mods, Skyrim can look pretty amazing in 2025.

Developed by modder MissileMann, The Adventurer's Start is an addon for Scrab's Alternate Perspective mod for Skyrim, which lets you choose a different way to start your character.

The original mod is one of the most popular downloads on Nexus Mods, rewriting the prologue to feature alternative ways to start your character while preserving the integrity.

The mod offers different scenarios from where you can start, such as being shipwrecked on Skyrim's shores, or starting nice and cosy in your own player home.

From here, you can begin the main quest by venturing to Helgen, which is now a fully functional town.

While you may think this mod becomes virtually useless after a few hours of play, it really is amazing how much it changes about your whole playthrough.

The Adventurer's Start addon adds seven more scenarios for you to choose from. Now you can begin the game as a bounty hunter, or as a bandit prisoner, or even out in the wilderness away from civilisation. Talk about being spoilt for choices.

With plenty of different methods to choose from, it gives you plenty of reasons to go back and experience Skyrim's introduction in a whole new perspective.

What's more, if you have the Beyond Skyrim - Bruma, the addon also features support for starting there too.

MissileMann has also expressed their intention to add more starting scenarios in the future, though they do not know yet when they'll be able to get around to it.

If you've been itching for a new Skyrim playthrough, perhaps this is the mod for you.

At least, it should hold you over until The Elder Scrolls 6.
