Skyrim fans are horrified to learn that they’ve been exploring the dungeons of Tamriel wrong for 14 years.

Originally released in 2011, before being ported to every console generation since, Bethesda’s Skyrim instantly became one of the most popular fantasy RPGs of all time, and has continued to garner a loyal legion of fans to this day.

One of the many fun things about Skyrim is its dungeons, whether we’ve ventured into one as a result of a main mission or side quest, or simply exploring for treasure. Regardless of your reason, you would have most certainly encountered its deadly traps.

However, as the headline of this article states, one fan of the popular Elder Scrolls game has discovered that they’ve been dealing with dungeon traps wrong for many years.

“Today I learned arrows can trigger traps,” revealed Redditor zhikos24, sharing a clip of their discovered revelation.

“I’ve been playing since 2013 or so, and I never knew about this. Awesome!” replied Azuras_Star8.

“You can also trigger traps by dropping or moving items around,” explained Occidentally20. “VERY much fun is to be had by rolling wheels of cheese down a ramp to trigger a pressure plate or tripwire on an enemy.”

“Pro tip: You can also trigger a trap by walking on it,” jokes Tassoss.

“It will never not be funny watching Draugr get bashed across the room by a giant wall of spikes,” said 1981VWSciroccoS.

It will be interesting to see if fans of The Elder Scrolls series will continue to make discoveries in Skyrim by the time The Elder Scrolls VI graces us with its presence. Then the cycle will begin anew.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. You can also play it at no extra cost with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
