Skyrim's canon ending quietly teased ahead of The Elder Scrolls 6

Is this how it ends?

Skyrim fans have been discussing an ending that may have implications for The Elder Scrolls VI.

Skyrim is one of the most popular games in The Elder Scrolls series and despite releasing in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (before being ported to every console generation since), fans still cannot get enough of their adventures in Tamriel.

Check out The Elder Scrolls VI trailer below!

“After escaping execution, the last living Dragonborn must grow in strength and power to defeat the dragons that have once again begun to plague the land of Skyrim,” reads the synopsis of the game.

Understandably, fans are hyped for the next entry in the series, The Elder Scrolls VI. However, despite Bethesda announcing the game in 2018, we still don't know when it will be released nor have we seen any gameplay.

Regardless, The Elder Scrolls VI being lost in limbo has given fans more than enough time to discuss what kind of story it will tell following events in Skyrim.

Namely, it's a character called Ulfric, the leader of the Stormcloak rebellion, who's left people talking.

“Since Ulfric is present in The Elder Scrolls: Castles [a mobile game], do you guys think that means he won the civil war in The Elder Scrolls VI?” asked Redditor Potential-Memory3087.

“Nah, TES: Castles also has other people who shouldn’t be around in this time period, it’s not a canon game, it’s just a silly mobile game using TES’s likeness and characters,” replied Apprehensive-Bank642. “Ulfric will be dead in TESVI, same with Tullius and Titus, they all have to be dead or it delegitimises the player's choices.”

“I don't think the TES version of Fallout Shelter is going to have any bearing on the canon,” explained LegateZanUjcic. “Regarding the civil war itself, IMO there will be no canon ending, Skyrim will be in a state of civil unrest regardless of the player's choices.”

“You shouldn't consider TES: Castles as canon. It doesn't follow established lore,” said Crystlazar. “The way I see it, Bethesda just wanted to make a fun, casual mobile game in the TES world.”

So, there you have it, no matter what The Elder Scrolls: Castles tells you, it’s all lies. In the meantime, if you want to be alive for when The Elder Scrolls VI is released, you might want to consider plonking yourself in a cryo-chamber.
