'Sifu' Mod Transforms You Into John Wick And It Is Absolutely Amazing

Mods, glorious mods.

This Sifu mod turns you into John Wick from the... John Wick films and it looks utterly incredible in action.

Released last week, the game is a merciless yet moreish tale of revenge about a young warrior who seeks justice for their family's deaths at the hands of assassins. The twist is that though the character might die in their quest, they're resurrected as an older version of themselves and are accordingly more powerful and more skilled than their younger self. If you balance both victory and defeat, you're able to slice through enemies like a hot knife through butter.

"It’s here where Sifu slides from reality to fantasy, as the world around you and your enemy bleeds out into something, somewhere, else entirely. Not that you have too much time to really drink it in, as one step wrong and your health bar can get absolutely wrecked - it’s only topped up, barely, by some context-dependent takedowns - and in Sifu there are no second chances," said Mike in his review. Yes, you've got to be brutal, fluid, and precise with your hits in this game (not necessarily in that order), and modder The Beyonders saw the chance to add another incredible combatant to the arena.

Take a look at Sifu here - this video delves into the combat system in this stylish yet gruelling fighting game!

It's worth saying now to the uninformed that there are three John Wick games out there already, the most recent being John Wick Hex from developer Bithell Games. However, it's not your normal action game as it asks the player to set up a strategic sequence of attacks for John to complete to clear the room of goons. It's sort of like a cocktail of Superhot and X-COM set in the world of John Wick. While rewarding, some fans might want to take a much more direct route to revenge and this mod for Sifu ticks that box conveniently. YouTuber Dan Allen Gaming shows it off in this video below:

I'll be the first to say it - this mod could convince me that this was a fully fledged second John Wick game that sneakily released last week. The intricacy of Sifu's combat lends itself well to the feeling of being John Wick, letting the player hop, skip and dance past attacks to deliver an eye-watering or eye-popping special takedown. Plus, the colours remind me of that scene from Chapter Two in the hall of mirrors. Download the mod here through The Beyonder's Patreon page.
